Stylist Tip: Do Not Be Ordinary

Do not be tempted to look ordinary. I have had clients tell me that they get dressed thinking they do not want to stand out. Life really is too short! Always dare to go out of your comfort zone just a bit when putting on your clothes and accessories.  Wear what makes you happy!

Case in point... I give you the fox tights. I was holding these gems in Anthropologie when I heard one of my besties say "step away from the fox tights." If I had heeded her instruction I would not be rocking this fabulous look tonight for a date with the hubby- and they make me so happy! They will get attention and it will be lots of fun!

What to Wear: Baptism, Afternoon Wedding or Confirmation

Baptism Confirmation What to wear

Let me be honest. It's May and I do not have a creative bone in my body! Sometimes you have to go with the real deal. So here you have my basic plan for my son's confirmation last Sunday. If you were there you saw this very outfit (minus the fabulous up-do, I ran out of time!). Hope you like it, I felt pretty and pulled together.

For events like a baptism, afternoon wedding, or confirmation the concept is feminine, chic, but comfortable. I did not want the focus on me but I wanted to look appropriate and stylish. A fitted sheath dress with nude heels and understated accessories fits the bill.

All white #ootd

All white #ootd

All white outfits are crisp and effortlessly fresh. It's hard to go wrong when you stick to one color palette and keep the accessories neutral. What could be simpler for a spring outfit?

Check out this lovely jewelry line by two sisters in Charlotte:                                  Twine and Twig.
Twine Twig turquoise necklaces
Their jewelry features a signature suede strap mixed with wood beads, shells horn and antlers. The necklaces mix well with neutrals and give a twist to your preppiest Lilly Pulitzer ensemble.

Outfit of the Day #ootd

Currently I am obsessed with this Anthro pencil skirt.
I love the tribal print and deep yellow. It is bright paired
with all my dark winter basics and will be perfect with a t-shirt
and sandals this summer. At this point in winter I advise
adding pieces to your wardrobe that will transition well
to the next season for maximum wear-ability.
Here I am (so serious!) with the gorgeous magnolia as back-drop.
The skirt predominantly features black within the print as well as really
deep pops of indigo.  I love the unexpected pairing of the black pieces
                                              with a navy necklace.

McCalls Patterns

Get a laugh out of vintage patterns:
McCall's Pattern Behavior meme. And we all need a little funny on snow day #?!? I have lost count.

*disclaimer: I do NOT agree with a few of these...but worth a read. Most are hilarious.*

You're welcome.

Fringe Benefits

Fringe Benefits

Fringe Benefits
This look is truly runway to real life. Designers like Valentino, Proenza Shouler, and Christian Louboutin are all featuring fringe accessories and apparel in their lines. You can get in on the accessories look for Spring (and now!) at a fraction of the cost if you keep your eyes open. Fringe creates dimension and movement for any ensemble. What fun! Add a little Boho Chic to your wardrobe this season.

Leather Leggings Outfit

For months I have been considering some (faux) leather leggings. Finally, last month I made the plunge and I have really enjoyed wearing them. They elevate any regular black leggings outfit. If you are not a leggings girl, try coated jeans for the same vibe.

Leather Leggings Outfit
This is a fool-proof outfit that looks great on everyone:
long cozy sweater + black legging + black bootie/knee-high boots.

Nars nail polish

Just when you thought leather leggings were a one trick pony...They look fantastic with a tee-shirt, chucks, and a jean jacket for weekend wear.

Stylist Tips: Pairing Jeans & Shoes

It still amazes me that so many different styles of denim
are simultaneously in style. There is truly something for
every body type and preference. However, all these choices
can be confusing. Here's a little stylist cheat sheet:

Obviously, you can mix many of these shoes with different
styles of jeans. This just shows you some sure bets.

What to Wear: New Year's Party

New Year's Party Ensemble

I love New Year's Eve! This year we are hosting a small gathering a couple days after to toast 2015. For a NYE party I like to feel festive but still comfortable. A cocktail dress paired with tights and booties fits the bill perfectly.

What's Your Spirit Animal?

On a recent trip with my sister to Anthropologie, our animal instincts kicked in. Seriously, my sister had to cut me off... but not before I grabbed my bear shirt.

Take a walk on the wild side!
