Summer Look of the Day #ootd

Wow, is it ever hot out there? I love this easy breezy look. This is usually just what I'm thinking about for date night or a girl's night in the summer. This look is fabulous because it combines so many of the neutral items we already have in our closets. Neutral clutch, neutral sandals, aviators,etc.. Paired with a loose, slip on sundress this look is effortlessly chic.

What to Wear: Baptism, Afternoon Wedding or Confirmation

Let me be honest. It's May and I do not have a creative bone in my body! Sometimes you have to go with the real deal. So here you have my basic plan for my son's confirmation last Sunday. If you were there you saw this very outfit (minus the fabulous up-do, I ran out of time!). Hope you like it, I felt pretty and pulled together.

For events like a baptism, afternoon wedding, or confirmation the concept is feminine, chic, but comfortable. I did not want the focus on me but I wanted to look appropriate and stylish. A fitted sheath dress with nude heels and understated accessories fits the bill.

Have you shopped in a college town recently? If you have, at the check out, you have surely seen a large glass bowl brimming with bead bracelets. I love the bracelets and the concept. The price is even more fun: usually 1 bracelet for $11., or 3 for $30..

These handmade glass bead bracelets are made in Nepal by local women. Some of the proceeds go back into the community there.  I think I would have bought them anyway but it feels good to give back!

The best way to wear the bracelets is to stack them with other bracelets from your collection. That way you avoid a matchy/matchy look. They add a little punch and depth to finer pieces as well. 

Initially I gravitated towards classic jewelry tones: gold, rose gold, and silver.  This is a safe bet but the colors are gorgeous. If you are wondering how often you will wear them... ALL THE TIME. I even swim in mine with the kids.

Color Class: Black & White

Combinations do not get more classic than black and white.  This crisp look is everywhere including interior design. I love the way creative industries influence one another.  The overlap is a fun excuse to squeeze in some house idea pictures!

I digress, we are here for clothes!

Now for a little real life translation!  This trend is easy to rock.  We all have scads of black and white basics in our closets.  The trick is the combination.  Black and white stripes add graphic punch to your ensemble. Do not be afraid to mix your prints- anyone for houndstooth & stripes? When you are only working with two colors you can take a little more risk and pull it off. However, most street wear I have seen is just solids pulled together. This trend is a quick way to get out the door to work, cocktails, or for weekend errands looking crisp, chic, and on trend.
