Paris Street Style

Last month I went to Paris with my husband and dear friends. If you are what you eat, this was pretty much me. Although you would need to stuff that croissant with lots of chocolate: je t'aime pain au chocolat.
I digress. Chocolate was was only one of my missions while I was there. When I visted after college, I was fascinated by the style of French women. It all seems so effortless and chic.  The same can be said this time around.  However, fashion has become so global.  You can google Paris street style and get hundreds of images instantly. The women (and men for that matter) wear a lot of close fitting, casual, neutrals. I felt that we fit right in. I only noticed a couple of stand out trends that might help us become slightly more fashion forward:

Low boots...

It was all about skinny pants or jeans and "booties." So many French women wear heeled booties but I loved the low heel or flats even more.  If you are tired of your tall boots, this is a great option and will put you ahead of the fashion curb. I only saw two pairs of tall boots in France!

Fur Jackets...

The chicest ladies we saw abroad had on these lovelies...many times with the bootie! It does not matter whether it is faux or real.  It's a look: wavy hair (see previous post) + fur jacket + skinny jeans + bootie = fabulous.

Boyfriend Jeans

I dug my boyfriend jeans back out of my closet yesterday.  Man, do I love them. It's wonderful when when comfort and style meet! They are back in style just in time for warmer weather.
How to wear Boyfriend Jeans:
-The look is (as the name suggests) borrowed jeans from the man in your life- boyfriend/brother. But the great part is you can now get them in your size. Think slouchy, casual, lived in, throw in some rips and you are ready to go. It's another riff on fashions love affair with high/low concepts.
-Pair them with a something tailored or more feminine on top. A few borrowed ideas:

The key to the look is rolling the cuff to show a little ankle. Heels are always a winner but I like to wear mine with Toms or Chuck Taylors. With boyfriend jeans you can look simultaneously edgy and sweet. Love it! A few more ideas...

Fun and comfy: win win!!

Romantic Beachy Waves

If you have naturally curly hair or waves now is your time. Capitalize on your natural volume! Loose curly hair is everywhere. Plus we can all use a little help when the humidity kicks up in the coming months.
I read an article by a top stylist recently. His point was how much of a shame it is that we are always trying to flatten our hair when the movement and volume are so attractive.

I am trying to embrace my natural style a little more.  You should too! If you do not have any wave in your hair it's easy to create it.  Here are a few ways to get the look.  All are quick and cheap!

-If you have natural wave or curl:wash your hair before bed, apply a light amount of curl enhancing creme and go to sleep. In the morning you will have soft, frizz free curls or waves. I use this product:
Target, $24.49

-If you need to enhance your natural waves or create beachy waves on straight hair, try this.  Twist hair into sections and go over it slowly with a flat-iron. I have thick hair and it only takes 5 minutes!

Give these a try and tell me what you think! The added bonus to these natural, low maintenance styles is healthier hair!
