Easy Halloween Costume

Easy Halloween Costume

Halloween is a very busy day for Moms and teachers. But it's more exciting if you get into the spirit. This look is a version of what I wear every year to my kid's school Halloween parties. The kids love it and it takes so little effort.  The tights are the main attraction and they set me back $4. a few years ago. I love the opportunity to go about my errands in this sort of ensemble. Halloween is so much fun!

This year my youngest has requested that I switch it up so if I can manufacture another easy costume I will put it up. I'm leaning towards Scarecrow because I already have all the makings of the costume in my closet less the hay to stuff in my overalls.

Happy Halloween!

Kate Spade and Jack Spade for The Gap

Launching on Thursday, October 30th:
Kate Spade & Jack Spade designer collaboration with Gap kids. I am way excited about this! I love children in bright colors.

The theme of the capsule collection is a magical trip to Grandma's house.

Navy & hot pink ♥ ♥

Gingham and camo for boys...

The candy-cane stripe tights are so much fun!

Minimalist Chic

Ran across this set this morning. 90's minimalism is coming back (more on over-sized coats in an upcoming post). I love the combination of all black with just a splash of navy on the kicks. I should title this post "What I Wore to Drop My Kids Off At School." Similar looks... just saying. What do you think?

How I Wore It: The Pumpkin Patch

What I Wore: The Pumpkin Patch

I had such fun with my youngest and her Brownie Troop pals at our local Pumpkin Patch this morning.  I was comfortable and felt great- I even mixed prints!

What  gorgeous Fall Saturday!!

Now I'm off to spray paint some nesting tables for my living room. I will put up pictures if they turn out well.

Look of the Day

Here is another great template outfit for the colder months. A day dress is always a good idea! You can wear the look as shown or mix it up using the same colors...

If dresses are not your thing, try a gray sweater, black pants, and brown leather knee high boots or flats. Denim would be a smashing addition in a jean jacket or skinnies. Mix it up!

Oscar de la Renta

"The qualities I most admire in a woman are confidence and kindness."
Oscar de la Renta

My introduction to this legend was my grandmother's perfume. It is still one of my favorite scents. Oscar de la Renta helped define elegance for generations of women around the world. Rest in peace.

Mix It Up

Looks to Keep:
Yes... Mixed Prints are still in style.

**I used to think mixing prints was an advanced fashion move. Use this look as a template, with the base of a striped item. Find another printed piece in complimentary colors and voila, you are rocking the trend.**

Casual Look of the Day

Sunnies + Athletic Top + Rolled Jeans + Chucks

This is what I feel like wearing for school pick-up during the Fall. I want to be comfortable when I hang out and chat on the playground after school. This would be the prefect casual weekend look as well.

Thought for the Day

We have sunshine and chilly temperatures at last! I am so happy we made it through the rain. I'm heading out for a walk to enjoy the leaves.

Color Class: Burgundy

This Fall, take a cue from nature: wear burgundy. This rich, deep red hue is universally flattering. It was all over the runways of top designers. If you are looking to add something new to your wardrobe, burgundy would be great choice and freshen up your look for the season.

Runway to Real Life:

Burgundy (or wine) pairs beautifully with gray, black, khaki, white, navy, and browns.

Mindy Kaling

I love Mindy Kaling. I feel sure, that if I knew her, we would be tight. She is the real deal.

On another note, have you read her book? I read it this Summer. It is so funny.

How I Wore It: Napa

Remember last week's sale alert at Anthropologie post? Well, I snapped up the blue floral dress for our trip to Napa. It was 99 degrees everyday. I styled it up with brown booties, leather belt, and a clutch. This is my first personal picture on the blog so bear with me. I'm nervous!
Here we are are having a ball! I highly recommend touring  Napa!

Stylist Tip: How to wear Booties & Jeans

Okay, so the picture on the left is not WRONG, but the picture on the right is preferable, RIGHT? The small cuff and roll on the jeans adds a lot more oomph to the look.

Now, to address the challenge of comfortable socks with booties: I recommend a light pair of socks that you cannot see. I have had good luck at stores like T.J. Maxx for a pair of short socks with good coverage of the foot.
