You had me at Uniqlo

Uniqlo
Uniqlo Shanghai

If you live in a big bustling metropolis, you probably already own Uniqlo clothes or coats.  But I am new on the scene and I love it.  This Japanese company has fun clothes for all ages.  Two of their products have recently changed my life for the better:

Heattech tops:
layering with purpose

OMGoodness. They are only $14. AND... they are styled in my favorite necklines- scoop-neck and v-neck.  These two neck-lines are flattering on most all women (a little collarbone is always a good idea!).  The fabric is so light and soft. I wore mine last week and felt warm and stylish.  The color choices are fun too. The Heattech line also features leggings, tights, socks, and scarves.

Ultra-Light Down:

I bought the black, knee-length version. It is feather light, cozy-warm,  and the fabric feels like silk.  It comes with it's own carrying pouch.  I can fit it into a pouch smaller than my make-up bag!! Perfect for travel or running errands!  I highly recommend these jackets and coats! Best of all, they are on sale: $89.   $59.90!

Check out the children's and men's line as well.

The Skimm

Nothing is more chic than intelligence.
You Need To Know About:

While I love fashion, it's imperative to stay informed. However, I never make time to read newspapers. "We tackle the problem that most of us have- we need to be informed, but none of us have extra time," says co-creator Danielle Weisberg. She and her business partner, Carly Zokin, quit their jobs to start The Skimm, a daily news blast sent to email accounts for free.

Forbes states "The best way to describe The Skimm is to imagine getting a diverse briefing every morning on what's going on in the world. Ranging from politics, international affairs, gossip, sports, entertainment, finance, and more..." (11/4/13).

The Skimm, is an free email service to which you subscribe.  Every weekday morning, sometime close to 6 a.m., they drop an email in your inbox. It has the top, pertinent national and international news summarized.  Not only do you get the news but it is delivered in a somewhat entertaining fashion- as if you are conversing with a girlfriend.  Reading the Skimm everyday will ensure that you can participate in any water-cooler or cocktail party conversation in an informed manner.  There is no annoying advertising of any kind.

Boots & DIY Jeans

Tall boots are in style and do not seem to be going anywhere.  Recently I have had a couple of clients with gorgeous boots and no skinny jeans or leggings. The problem: how to squeeze their boot or straight cut jeans into boots without them getting scrunched up at the knee.  The solution is all about the "tuck-and-roll" technique we learned in middle school (remember that with bucks?!?). You may have to try this a couple of times to get the tension right.

Here is a little borrowed DIY illustration on how to make your regular jeans work with boots:

*what is more budget friendly than making what you already have work?!?
